Find Apps by First Letter in Windows 8.1
Pull up the Apps list by clicking the arrow at the bottom of the screen. Or if you have a touch screen swipe from the bottom up. There you’ll see that you can sort apps by name which will put them all in alphabetical order.
If you have a lot of apps installed, you can have some long lists and that means a lot more scrolling. But If you know the first letter of the app, simply click or tap any letter on the list.
That will bring up the following screen with letters in alphabetic order. Just click the letter the app starts with. This view also provides a “no-frills” view of just your desktop programs alphabetical order.
That brings you directly to that letter’s section. This view also provides a “no-frills” view of just your desktop programs alphabetical order. Clicking a desktop program from this view doesn’t launch the application, but does bring you to it on the Apps list. You might find this to be easier than scrolling all over the place. In fact, this is how you can search for apps on Windows Phone as well.
I use this method all the time for getting the app I want much faster. Of course you can always use the search feature from the Start menu too. Just type the app or program you want. However, depending on the app’s name, it can bring up extra results that you might not need. Comment Name * Email *
